I guess I’m not the only one that cannot get enough of this color.  The curator of this Treasury is Seastyle and their shop is full of beachy treasures.

My lovely ocean inspired Vintage Fabric Embellished Quilt with Japanese Waves is a featured member of this collection.

Enjoy!

Some of My Favorite Christmas Things

December 23, 2008 03:44 by ehouston

This year we were planning to travel for the holidays and sometimes when we plan for travel we also decide not to get a real tree.  This was one of those years and I have to admit I have really missed the usual smell of pine that wafts throughout the house.  This year we put up a new tinsel tree that I purchased early in the season for a craft fair display and due to the smaller size we only hung up the hand-blown glass ornaments that I have been collecting over the years.  I think they filled out the tree nicely and it was good to at least be able to unwrap these old friends for the holidays.  I also had to bring out several other fun things I have collected over the years that just scream kitschy Christmas to me!  Enjoy....

New 4.5 ft Silver Tinsel Tree covered in "Old World Christmas" glass ornaments.

Vintage German glass tree topper from my Grandparents collection.

Vintage Japanese paper/cardboard tray with strangely stylized Santa and Reindeer.  Topped with old, but not vintage model trees and a paper mache snowman.

My favorite part about this battered little man is that he is smoking a cigar.  Another Japanese interpretation of idealized American holiday kitsch!

Vintage chip bowl, minus the clip on dip holder and matching bowl.  I love to fill this with more vintage German and Japanese hand-blown glass ornaments from my Grandparents' collection.  My Grandfather brought so much of this stuff back from his time overseas during the war and all of it is still in very good shape many years later.  This is only a small portion of the whole collection.

Close-up of a funky vintage Santa ornament.  We have all seen these in various sizes as ornaments or cake toppers, etc.  I just cannot get enough of his funny little stance.

One of my absolute favorites.  I am not sure what this would have been used for, but he is so funny, marching along with his little bitty Christmas tree.

Merry Christmas Everyone!
